Terms of use

Plain terms for a reference site. The parts that matter most are sections 4 and 5: every figure here is as stated by a maker or a retail listing, not something we tested, and riding an electric unicycle is dangerous and entirely your own responsibility.

1. Who we are and what this is

EUCs.com (“EUCs.com”, “we”, “us”) is an independent reference about electric unicycles, published by Silicon Valley Ventures. It publishes spec sheets for the wheels in our catalogue, brand pages, rankings that sort wheels on a stated figure, head-to-head comparisons, wheel-size and buying guides, a gear page, monthly updates on new and discontinued wheels, links to Amazon and to dealers, and an occasional email newsletter. There are no user accounts, and the old site’s forum has been retired.

We do not make, sell, import, service or test electric unicycles, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any maker or dealer we list.

2. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of eucs.com and everything on it. By using the site you accept them; if you do not, please do not use it. You must be at least 18 to use the site, or have the permission of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms for you.

We may change these Terms at any time. The date above changes with them, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised version. We may add, change, suspend or remove any page, wheel, ranking, feature or newsletter at any time without notice or liability.

3. What you may and may not do

You may read, print and share pages for your own personal or internal purposes, and quote or cite our pages briefly with a link to the page.

You may not:

  • scrape, crawl or harvest the catalogue systematically, or republish it wholesale;
  • present our spec sheets, rankings, comparisons or text as your own;
  • use the site or its content to train, fine-tune or ground a machine learning model that reproduces or substitutes for it;
  • resell or commercially redistribute the content;
  • submit false, abusive or automated messages or newsletter signups, including signing up someone else’s address;
  • interfere with the site, probe it for vulnerabilities, get around its security checks, or place unreasonable load on it;
  • use it for any unlawful purpose.

We may block or restrict access to anyone at our discretion, without notice.

4. What the figures are, and are not

Specifications (top speed, range, battery capacity, weight, motor power, wheel size and the rest) are as stated by the maker or a retail listing. We do not test wheels and cannot verify any figure. Stated ranges and speeds are usually measured under ideal conditions and real results vary with rider weight, terrain, temperature, tyre pressure, riding style and battery age. Where a figure is missing we print “not stated” rather than estimate it.

A ranking is a sort on one stated figure, and a comparison sets stated figures side by side. Neither is a recommendation, a safety rating, a review of build quality or a judgement that a wheel suits you. Prices and availability change constantly; we show a list price or typical price band where one was given, and the seller’s price at checkout is the only one that counts.

Nothing on EUCs.com is engineering, safety, legal, insurance or financial advice. Check the maker’s own specifications, manuals and safety notices, and the seller’s terms, before you buy.

5. Riding and product safety

Electric unicycles can cause serious injury or death. They can cut out, tilt back or fail without warning, particularly near top speed, on low battery, on steep hills, in the wet or after a fall or crash. Learn somewhere safe, wear proper protective gear (a helmet as a minimum, and wrist, knee and elbow protection), ride within your ability and the wheel’s limits, and keep it maintained.

Lithium-ion batteries can overheat, catch fire or explode, especially if damaged, wet, poorly charged or used with the wrong charger. Follow the maker’s charging and storage instructions, and do not use a wheel that has been damaged or recalled. Check for recalls with the maker and with your national product safety regulator.

The law on where electric unicycles may be ridden varies widely by country, state and city, and in some places they may not be ridden on public roads or pavements at all. It is your responsibility to know and follow the law where you ride. You ride entirely at your own risk, and to the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for any injury, death, loss or damage arising from riding, charging, storing, buying or relying on information about any wheel or product listed here.

6. Amazon, dealer links and affiliate disclosure

EUCs.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. If you buy through one of our Amazon links we may be paid a commission at no extra cost to you.

Links to dealers and makers go through a short address on this site (/go/name) so that a link can become a tracked affiliate link if that shop approves us. Which links currently pay us is listed on the disclosure page. No maker or dealer pays for inclusion, placement or a position in any ranking, and no commission changes any figure.

We are not the seller of any product. Any purchase, warranty, return, refund, delivery, repair or safety claim is between you and the seller or maker, on their terms. We give no warranty of any kind for any product listed or linked here. Product names, images, logos and listing details belong to their makers, to Amazon or to the respective sellers and are used to identify the products.

7. Newsletter and contact form

The newsletter is free. You join by confirming a link we email you (double opt-in), and every issue has a one-click unsubscribe. The contact form is for corrections, missing wheels and general questions. Writing to us does not create any client, agency, fiduciary or professional relationship, and we do not promise to reply to every message or to act on any suggestion. We do not pass your message to makers or dealers. How we handle what you send is set out in the privacy policy. We take no payments on this site.

8. Accuracy, corrections and third-party sites

We build pages from our catalogue and from retail listings, and the monthly update pieces are compiled automatically from changes in that same data. Sources can be wrong, out of date or contradictory, and we make mistakes. If you find an error, send it through the contact page with a link to the maker’s spec page and we will correct it.

We do not control linked sites and are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, products or practices.

9. Intellectual property

Our text, compilations, rankings, comparisons, design and the code that generates these pages are ours and are protected by copyright and database rights where they apply. Third-party names and marks belong to their owners.

Anything you send us, including corrections, suggestions and feedback, may be used, adapted and published by us without restriction, attribution or payment. Please do not send anything you consider confidential.

Copyright complaints. If you believe material on EUCs.com infringes your copyright, write to us through the contact page identifying the work, the URL where it appears, your contact details and a statement that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner. We will investigate promptly and remove anything infringing.

10. No warranty

The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of harmful components.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our owners, affiliates and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the site, any product listed or linked here, any linked site or these Terms, whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or otherwise, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the site is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, as the site is free, is normally nothing) or one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions; where that is so, our liability is limited to the minimum the law permits.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless EUCs.com, its owners, affiliates and contributors from any claim, loss, liability or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your use of the site, your riding or use of any product, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law or third-party right, or anything you submit to us.

13. Disputes, arbitration and class action waiver

Please read this section carefully; it affects how disputes are resolved.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to the site or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court. You and we each waive any right to a jury trial and to take part in a class, collective or representative action. An arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any representative proceeding.

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by telling us so through the contact page within 30 days of first using the site. Opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms. If this section is found unenforceable as a whole, any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts sitting in New York County, New York.

14. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If any provision is found unenforceable, it is severed and the rest stands. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them, including on a sale of the site.

These Terms, together with the privacy policy and the disclosure, are the entire agreement between you and us about the site.
